What is Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is an ancient and natural hands-on healing technique that brings healing to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels.

Reiki was re-discovered in Japan in the late 1800s, but its roots go back thousands of years.

What takes place in a Reiki session?

All you need to do is lay fully clothed on a Reiki table, eyes closed, and heart open, while relaxing music plays in the background.  You set an intention as to what you would like out of the session, clear your mind, and then just experience what comes.

My part in the session is to channel universal energy through myself into you.  The flow of energy brings deep relaxation, and encourages your body’s own innate healing to take place.  I call upon your ‘highest self’ to be present, and focus on the energy going to where you need it most.  Then I follow my inner guidance and ‘listen’ to the cues that your body gives me.  These cues guide me at to where to place my hands.

What can you expect in a Reiki session?

All Reiki experiences are personal and unique.  At the very minimum, you can expect to become fully relaxed.  Beyond that, there is a wide range of experiences that may occur.  Some people fall deeply asleep and even snore throughout the entire treatment, while others remain engaged in thought and expectations.  Some clients feel a warm embrace of energy, and some see colours, lights, and even what seems like fireworks.  Some feel a total absence of pain while others feel a momentary increase in discomfort before that feeling subsides into peace.
